I am an assistant professor at the Center for Integrative Studies (Social Science), Michigan State University. I received my Ph.D. in communication at Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. Before that, I studied at Chinese University of Hong Kong for my master’s in communication.
My research areas include digital culture, social activism, and collective memory in contemporary China. I have published a book about Weibo, the leading Chinese micro-blogging site. My current project is a critical analysis of new cultural authorities in the digital age. I take both ethnographic and discourse analysis approaches to my research.
